Resource Sustainability AssignmentOn Challenges To Sustainable Utilization Of Renewable Sources Within Private Sectors in U.A.E.

Question

Task: What factors must be used to prepare a resource sustainability assignment that identifies and resolvesChallenges relating to sustainable utilization of renewable sources within private sectors in U.A.E

Answer

1. Introduction/Background of the research
This resource sustainability assignmentexplores how nature has endowed humans with various natural resources, however, the resources must be utilised judiciously. In this research proposal, the private sectors of United Arab Emirates (UAE) are being focused upon. The use of the renewable energy resources in the private sector organisations will be analysed. The private sector organizations are utilising the renewable energy resources. However, there are various challenges to sustainable utilisation of these renewable resources which will be researched in this paper. The renewable resources have the capability of being replenished on the human timescale. These resources can be effectively utilised in the present without affecting their availability for the future generations (Dwyer, Landon and Mojica, 2018). These renewable energy resources should be utilised sustainably. For instance, it could be harnessed avoiding the harmful effects of excavation. The adverse effects of fossil fuels could be avoided by utilisation of renewable energy resources. The research is based on UAE because it is interesting to see how the oil-rich nation utilises renewable resources. Most of the energy in the private sectors of UAE comes from fossil fuels. However, over the past decade initiatives are being taken for encouraging utilisation of renewable energy in the private sectors.

a. Problem statement
The problem statement for this research is analysing the challenges of sustainable utilisation of the renewable resources by the private sector organizations of UAE. The problem statement will be research with reference to energy efficiency and the sustainable business models.

1. Aim of thisresource sustainability assignment
The research aims to reflect on the way renewable sources in private sector is produced that systems domestically as well as sustainably in the UAE.

2. Research objectives

  • To promote energy generation from renewables in the private sector.
  • To deploy renewable energy in the UAE thus advancing economic growth as well as improving access to energy.
  • To discuss strategies that can be adopted for effective utilization of energy.
  • To improve energy security through sustainable utilization of renewable sources within private sectors.

4. Research questions
1. Whichregulatory framework can be identified on this resource sustainability assignment that will help to utilise renewable energy in the sustainable way in the private sector of the UAE?
2. What will be the major challenge in utilising renewable energy in the private sector through sustainable ways?

5. Literature Review
As per Gunnarsdóttir et al (2021), the sustainable energy refers to the various forms of energy which can be used over and over again without putting the energy source into the risk of being expired, depleted or vanished. The energy sources need to be utilised sustainably and judiciously so that the future generations have sufficient energy left for their use. The advantage of using a renewable energy source over a non-renewable one, i.e., fossil fuels, is that the former is a flow resource. As per research performed during this resource sustainability assignment, renewable energy source would replenish so that the portion of energy used or consumed can be replaced. This replenishment is facilitated either through recurring processes or natural reproduction. According to Honcharuk(2020), the energy consumption across organizations today have increased. The various organizations should therefore reduce their consumption of non-renewable energy or fossil fuels and shift to renewable energy resources. The renewable energy sources like solar energy, hydel power, geothermal energy, etc. should replace fossil fuels. The organizations should focus on energy efficiency as suggested by Paramati, Shahzad and Doan(2022). Energy efficiency would imply lesser use of energy for performing a specific task. This would eliminate the wastage of energy. The studies in this area suggest that energy efficiency could bring along several benefits. These include the reduction of the emissions of the greenhouse gases, decrease in the demand for the energy imports and reduction in the costs of energy at the household as well as economy-level.

Another significant study in this field byHarjanne and Korhonen (2019) states that sustainable use of renewable energy is important but it is also challenging. One of the biggest challenges of sustainable use of renewable energy is that the sources of energy cannot be controlled by humans. The generation of power is dependent solely on nature. This is the reason organizations prefer using fossil fuel-based energy sources as the flow of energy is certain and controllable. The other challenge identified on this resource sustainability assignmentis that utilising renewable energy involves a huge cost of installation of the entire setup. Moreover, as said in the paper of Iris and Lam(2019), the renewable energy sources can be optimally leveraged when a strong transmission infrastructure is available. The most significant challenge is that the non-renewable energy sources are so widely used, that they are well-established. The legacy system of these energy sources has huge market power. This itself is a barrier to the renewable resources. The fossil fuel industry is huge, especially in energy rich nations from the Middle East. As opined by Saint Akadiri et al (2019), a huge obstacle in the way of adoption of sustainable renewable energy across organizations is non-renewable energy’s lobbying against the utilisation of renewable or clean energy. The renewable energy is being utilised in public sector organizations as they are under the government supervision. The government is taking strong initiatives to promote use of renewable energy. However, the private sector organizations are reluctant to use renewable energy as stated in the study byOpeyemi (2021), because the output generated by renewable energy source is lesser than that generated by fossil fuels. Moreover, the non-renewable energy industry is backed by incentives, tax breaks, subsidies and legal or regulatory loopholes.

6. Resource sustainability assignmentMethodology
Research process or discussing the research methodology is considered to be the most important part of a research. In this section, readers can get a brief overview of the process in which data will be collected by the researcher and will be further analysed.

Business Research
The business research that will be employed to find out the challenges to sustainable utilization of renewable sources within private sectorswill be exploratory research. Through this research, it will become easier to investigate the research questions that has not been studied previously in a detailed way (Swedberg, 2020). This research is mostly qualitative in nature.

Degrees of causality
The degree of causality that will be used will be contributory causality that will deal with a change in the cause that will be related with a change in the effect. This causality does not necessitate every variable that goes through a cause to reflect on the effect (Shiffrin, 2016). Through contributory causality the lurking variables will be reflect on the challenges that comes in the path of sustainable utilization of renewable sources within private sectors.

Research Design
Based on the business research selected as well as the degree of causality, the research design will be casual research. This research design will help to recognize the extent as well as the characteristics of cause-and-effect relationships. The focus will be on the situation analysis that will describe a pattern of relationships among variables (Schoonenboom and Johnson, 2017). There will be three imperative elements that requires to be kept in mind while dealing with casual research design. The first one will be temporal sequence followed by concomitant variation as well as nonspurious association.

Basic design techniques
The observational study will be utilised that will involve using sample population that will be surveyed as well as measured. However, it does not influence the population in any way during this resource sustainability assignmentstudy. The research method that will be involved in the study will be secondary research that involves utilising existing data. In this case, the existing data will be collated to raise the total efficiencies related to research.

Sampling
In order to comprehend the challenges, the sampling methods that will be utilised will be non-probability sampling. This will in turn involve selection of non-random variables that will be based on convenience as well as other criteria that allows to gather data easily (Vehovar, Toepoel and Steinmetz, 2016). Sampling is mostly carried out on target population that involves a particular group of individuals who will help to gather the required data.
