Research Project Assignment: Cognitive Development Among Children

Question

Task:
Write a detailed research project assignment on the benefits of implementing digital techniques for the cognitive development among children belonging to the age of 5 years or below.

Answer

Identification of research topic explored in the research project assignment:
The children of the modern age are immersed in a technology-based lifestyle, thus since the day they are born they tend to develop seeking technologies all around themselves. Thus, using computers, tabs, and television for providing learning through videos and other creative things will help in getting their interest as well as help them develop better in the early years of growth and development. It makes learning easier as well as support the children with better behavioural or cognitive ability to grow as a strong and skilled individual (Borges et al., 2017).

Aim of the study:
The study is developed to demonstrate a clear explanation of the benefit of implementing digital tools and technologies for the cognitive development among children belonging to the age of 5 and below. This study selects different factors related to applying digital tools and technologies such as smart classrooms with televisions and computers in the education system for children below the age of 5 years for cognitive development.

Objectives and formulation of research questions:
This particular research assessment is done to study how the application of digital tools and technologies such as smart classrooms with televisions and computers can help in the cognitive growth of children in their early years of growth.

The main objectives of this research study are described following:

  • This research study is to be conducted to determine the fact that how the application of digital tools and technologies can help children below 5 years in sustaining cognitive growth.
  • The study is also intended to obtain what are the beneficial impacts of using these technologies for the growth of cognitive skills within children of age 5 years and below.

It is a significant process to formulate effective research questions before proceeding with any research study in order to a better understanding of the purpose of the research study as well as provide it a firm structure (Hunt et al., 2018). Based on the previously attempted research studies and information, this study will answer the following formulated research questions related to benefit of applying digital tools and technologies for the cognitive growth among the kids belonging to the age of 5 and below.

Research question:

  • How the application of digital tools and technologies can help children below 5 years in sustaining cognitive growth?
  • What are the beneficial impacts of using these technologies for the growth of cognitive skills within children of age 5 years and below?

These questions will help in analyzing how using videos and creative classes using smart technologies such as computers, television and tabs can help children with the development of their cognitive skills during their early growth years.

There are several ways to present digital tools and technology in the cognitive development program or classes of children such as slideshow presentation, videos, animations, music, movies as well as the 3D virtual field trip. These thoughtful processes have their beneficial impact on the growth and development of children not only on a cognitive but physical and emotional level (Janisse et al., 2018). So, these research questions of this study will help to properly evaluate the literature shreds of evidence that are available worldwide to support or contradict these research topics.

Background of the research study:
The main purpose of this research study is to identify the benefits of digital tools as well as technology in the education session and learning classes for children who belong to the age below 5 in order to help them develop their cognitive skills. The research study also determines the factors and learning sessions that may have a contribution to enhancing the growth and development of children. According to Di Giacomo, Ranieri and Lacasa, (2017) usage of digital tools and technologies has been enhancing the quality of life and it has been supporting the growth of digital skills. It has been found that developing digital skills has its impact on the growth and development of human cognitive abilities and skills. It has been supporting children with the ability to process information faster than those who do not get involved in digital classes. Children tend to love playing games on digital tools and watch cartoons and videos thought the day. It has been found that as they find it exciting and full of fun, it helps them learn better and develop their cognitive skills. Using Children in their early learning and development years find creativity, music, art, cartoons, and games as a very exciting and fun way to seek and earn new things (Blumberg et al., 2019).

Systematic review and rationale:
The research study on the benefit of implementing digital tools and technologies for the cognitive development among children belonging to the age of 5 and below ' will be conducted focusing on a systematic review. A systematic review is a process where a formulated research question or matter of concern is used for the proper identification, selection, and critical appraisal of other research and studies relevant to the selected research study topic. It will be conducted to collect and analyze data from the selected research studies and shreds of evidence. For the best systematic review of the selected research study, some important ethical issues need to be considered (Munn et al., 2018). The research will be carried out using the systematic review as conducting primary research might be complicated as the selection of participants below the age of 5 may develop several ethical issues such as granting permission, human and child rights, confidentially as well as seeking approval from health care setting and educational institutions. As this research study is a kind of secondary research study, the publicly accessible documents are enough to seek institutional ethical approval for the systematic review of the study. In the case of the systematic review of the research study, the main ethical issues that should be considered are the common form of biases, misconduct in data analysis; which are sometimes done intentionally by omitting results to create misinterpretation and misleading the readers (Chen, 2017). Mostly plagiarism issues, which occurs when more than one research paper is used in the research study without full cross-referencing or share the same discussion points, hypothesis, data, or conclusion. So, this research study will be conducted by considering these ethical issues properly (Elliott et al., 2017).

In this research study, a qualitative research design will be used for completing the systematic research study. The research study will be conducted depending upon the findings of the “benefit of implementing digital tools and technologies for the cognitive development among the children belonging to the age of 5 and below” by evaluating previously studied research and analyzing the achieved data. Data analysis of the research study will be conducted to evaluate the findings of the study, by applying different logical techniques or tools. In this process, various similar research articles will be used to support this research study. Data analysis of this research study by ensuring the data integrity proposes the accurate and proper analysis of this specific research study findings (Umanailo et al., 2019).

An account of the procedure used in the research study:
This includes the structure of the research design. As this research study is a kind of secondary research study, the publically accessible documents are enough to seek institutional ethical approval for the study. The research design of this study includes a clear aim of the study, proper data collection, and analysis method, which here will be conducted by a systematic literature review (Xiao & Watson, 2019). The most important part is analyzing the benefit of implementing digital tools and technologies for the cognitive development among the children belonging to the age of 5 and below that has to be performed. And it's also necessary to ensure that the research study has to be conducted responsibly and ethically.
