Answer

Introduction: The primary objective of the study is to complete my self-assessment with the help of Global Emotional Intelligence Test and Daniel Goleman’s EQ Test results. I have compared my test grades with that of the results sent by my two friends. It helped me to analyze my strengths and weakness in terms of emotional intelligence. A comparison on the test results will provided based on the tool of Johari Window. Besides this, the paper will also help in analyzing the competencies that are required to improve the quality of emotional intelligence in future.

Part 1: As per the Global EI Test results, I have scored high in social awareness and self-awareness skills. In terms of social awareness, I have scored 7, whereas in self-awareness skills, I have scored 6. According to Serrat (2017), the fundamentals of emotive intelligence is considered as self–consciousness. It generally influences an individual to provide a reliable and positive sense of self-worth and also improves him or her to be critically self-reflective (Fernández-Berrocal and Extremera, 2016). Comparing this result with that of the outcomes of my fellow friends, I have analyzed that one of them scored 5 in self-awareness whereas another one provided me with a score of 4. According to me the friend who provided my self-awareness score as 6, knows me very well rather than the other friend. Hence, comparing the results, I can say that as per the Johari window, self-awareness skill is my open area because it is known to me as well as to my friends. The result also shows that I have a higher skills of social awareness, whereas according to my friends, they proceeded a score of 5 and 6 in this emotional intelligence skill.

Social awareness refers to the understanding and recognizing the interest of the other people in respect to their own concerns (Carson, Carson and Birkenmeier, 2016). Comparing the results, I can say that social awareness can also be considered as the open area because not only me but my friends also understands my behavior, feelings and emotions over other persons. As per the EI Test results, I lack in the self-management quality, which means I cannot control my emotions properly and due to this reason sometimes I cannot maintain the standards of flexibility in work. After comparing my results with the outcomes provided by my two friends, I have analyzed that they have given me a score of 3 and 5 respectively. However, I have got the 6 score in this self-management skills. Thus according to the Johari window, this area can be considered as the hidden or buried area as because I know that I have a moderate grade in this skills whereas my friends think that I have lack self-management quality.

Besides this, in terms of relationship management skills, I have scored 8 whereas my friend’s score are 7 and 6. Thus comparing the results, I analyzed that it is the open area of the Johari window because all my associates, including me, knows regarding these skills. Besides this, comparing the test results generated from Daniel Goleman's EQ Instrument, I have scored 61, whereas my two friends gave me a score of 62 and 59 in this test. In the words of Miao, Humphrey and Qian, (2017) the score in between 56-75 defines that emotional intelligence is great and the person has to maintain this score always. The results given my friend shows that I have strong relationship managment and social skills, whereas I think that I have strong motivation and empathy over others. Hence these area can be considered as the blind spot because my friends knows regarding my knowledge of self-consciousness and social perspectives, but I am unknown to this fact. Hence, this comparison has helped me to understand my emotional intelligence level.

Part 2: Based on the survey outcomes of both Global Emotional Intelligence Test and Daniel Goleman's EQ Test, I have analyzed my strengths and weakenesses on the quality of emotional intelligence perspectives. Both these test of emotive intelligence helps a person to identify his or her hidden area, open area, unknown and blind spot area from the Johari window (Rezvani et al., 2016). Thus after understanding the areas from the Johari window, it became easier for me to analyze my strengths as well as weakness relating to emotional intelligence level. As per the test, I have active social awareness and relationship management skills that is considered as one of my primary strengths of emotional intelligence. Strong relationship management skills help an individual to guide and inspire the team members working in a group and make them flexible in task (Jones and Kahn, 2017).

In other words, social awareness skill helps a person to take an appropriate decision at work. I think that I can recognize my performance, motivate others and can take the right decision in difficult conditions. Hence I consider this as my strengths. Apart from this, from the test results, I have noticed that sometimes I have lack by knowledge in self-regulating, self-management and self- awareness skills. Hence these are my weaknesses where I have to improve in future. From the results, I have analyzed that I have faced problem in managing the emotions and anger while working with other people in the organization, and this has created some challenges for me in working. These weaknesses are evaluated from the survey results.

Part 3: After analyzing the survey results from both the selected test of emotional intelligence, I have seen that there are several weaknesses in me that should be improved in the coming days. In order to purpose correctly as an international citizen, a person needs to overcome their weaknesses and transform it into their strengths in future (Caruso et al., 2015). Thus following this perspective, I have to improve my skills so that I can overcome my barriers. I am currently working as a departmental manager in a small firm. I have to learn the competencies included in self-management skills so that I can control and manage my junior staff members in the workplace. For example, while interacting with employees, I have to maintain my standards of integrity and honesty as it will help me to gain their trust and have faith in me. By gaining their belief and trust, the problematic situation can be managed and controlled effectively (Lopes, 2016). Hence using this strategy, I can enhance my self-management skills in future.

Besides this, I have to improve on my weakness, which is the self-awareness skills. According to the test results, I have to get an average score in the self-awareness area. It shows that I have faced problem in maintaining the performance and relationships in work. This has occurred due to my lack of confidence in doing the work properly. Hence I have to improve myself in this area to overcome my barrier of weakness in future. In order to improve these skills, I have to improve my confidence and managing power so that I can develop a good relationship with others. Self-regulation is also the skill in which I have to improve in future. For enhancing it, I have to control my anger and pressure while working with others. Hence if I can improve myself in all these skills, then I can easily cope up with my weaknesses, and this will help me to be a global citizen and will help me to achieve my career goals.

Conclusion
It can be summarized that both the test results of emotional intelligence helped me to understand my self-awareness, self-regulation, social-awareness, relationship management, self-management, and motivation and empathy skills. It also helped me to understand my strengths and weaknesses in relation to these skills. With the help of this paper I have analyzed the proper ways of being a functional and global citizen of the nation.
