Project Management Plan For Icon Construction

Task: The Project is meant to help you apply what you learn in the course to a project that you will evaluate. You should identify a case project. You should choose any professional project (not personal, like planning a wedding) to study. This project may be at your current place of work, but it cannot be one where the company already has PM documents developed (this relies on your academic integrity).
Here are the deliverables that you will need to produce:
1. Select a project at your target company
2. Provide background of the case project
3. Develop Quality Management Plan including at least 5 total metrics (qualitative and/or
4. Develop Stakeholder Management Plan including conflict management plan.
In conjunction with the report detailed above, there is a second deliverable for the
Project plan exercise. The students are required to present and defend to their client (course
lecturer, or a guest lecturer) their project plan.

Project management plan refers to an organised and approved document that allows measuring how the project will be executed, monitored and controlled to satisfy stakeholder's requirements while interrogating various baselines, subsidiary management plans and compulsory planning documents. Icon Construction is an Abbotsford based construction company which received a commercial contract of building a cottage house in the Mount Vernon region. Total allocated budget for the cottage house is ADU 295000, and the construction will be completed within a 2 years timeframe within an 800 square feet land. The company is determined to construct the cottage with upgraded housing qualities while implementing PMBOK project guidelines. This systematic empirical framework intends to create concurrent project management plan and provides extensive subsidiary management plans including quality management and stakeholder management practices. The study also describes a conflict management plan and operational excellence criteria to amplify project scopes and key deliverables.

Project Selection by the Company
Icon Construction has gained significant recognition and appreciation within the Australian construction industry for its construction efficiency and high-end specifications in project deliverables. The company encompasses diversified construction offerings and complex construction capabilities to provide utmost quality assurance and value-added solutions across the Australian territories (, 2020). Based on a tender notice, the company has taken the cottage development project to incorporate potential revenue streams and popularity within the New South Wales state.

Cottage house projects are complex as they carry the correction of being an old house with modernised luxurious facilities and multilayer construction attributes (Blixt and Kirytopoulos, 2017). Icon Construction has received the project to build a multistage cottage house while providing comprehensive facilities and satisfying design. To evaluate the scope of the project management plan, the company has conducted an integral process of documentation to confine adequate information regarding stakeholder's requirements and specifications alongside ensuring breath-taking entertainment facilities within the allocated budget.

To achieve collective success in the underpinned project, the company is determined to engage a concurrent resource management system to evaluate the basic features and specifications of the project. The company is looking forward to implementing PMBOK project guidelines to increase transparency and efficiency within the project while managing scope, budget, quality, risks and legal compliances (Hadjinicolaou et al. 2020). Various legal permits, supply chain and logistics network, selection of potential suppliers and subcontractors, procurement and inventory stocks are optimised to streamline operations and maintain project baselines. Relevant construction procedures, ISO quality standards and national construction principles will be followed to ensure productive growth and workplace health circumstances. Icon Construction has effectively assured the client and collaborative efforts will be performed with change management and continuous improvement plans.

Background of Cottage House Project
The cottage house will be developed in the semi-urban area of Mount Vernon region, New South Wales State. The client has allocated a budget of 295000 AUD to complete the project within 24 months. Various high-end specifications of the project management plan include a terrace, backward garden, bedrooms and bathrooms with modern contemporary construction design to resemble the traditional outlook while providing other mainstream services including electrical works, power backups, air conditioning system and lucrative look.

Icon Construction has engaged an experienced project team with the expertise to deliver the intended project management scope. The fundamental scope of the cottage house is to build a potential cottage house within 800 square feet area with the allocated budget. The company is focused to maintain project schedules to incorporate timely delivery while maintaining quality attributes and demographic characteristics. The weather conditions, use of raw materials, engagement of key suppliers, procurement of raw materials and equipment alongside skilled labour involvements will be incorporated into consideration to amplify project objectives and key milestones (Warmerdam and Lingard, 2017). The project management plan team has conducted pre-project meetings with key stakeholders and enlisted the necessary criteria for the betterment of the project. Adequate communication and documentation policies are ensured to increase transparency and likelihood of success while considering techno-centric visionaries. Various data visualization tools such as Gantt chart, project charter and digital accommodations have been confined to meet project baselines (Kanagarajoo et al. 2019). Quality measurement indicators such as scope, schedule and costs baselines will be checked through constant review and reporting process. The selection steering committee and project review committee are developed with expertise solutions to minimize occupational hazards and triple project constraints. Disruption in supply chain, contingency plans and compulsory risk mitigation strategies alongside stakeholder management systems have been checked to ensure productivity and profitability within the cottage development project.

Quality Management Plan
The quality management plan is an integral property of PMBOK methodology as it allows the project team to achieve customer satisfaction while considering standard operating procedures. This systematic empirical framework encompasses five distinct entities of quality management matrices to ensure productive growth with ISO standard policies.

Procurement Process
Procurement of raw materials and engagement of skilled labour is essential to accomplish premeditated planning. Adequate team management with appropriate allocation of responsibilities is significant to maximize organizational capabilities in the procurement process. During the procurement process, the project management plan needs to evaluate potential suppliers with concurrent organizational infrastructure and timely delivery criteria for a speedy response (Zuo et al. 2018). Selection of transportation modes, delivery routes and cost-effective solutions are necessary to consider. A sustainable commercial contractual agreement will be completed with suppliers and subcontractors to strengthen the project. Supply chain disruptions due to environmental consequences and pandemic like Covid 19 will be mitigated prominently to reduce complexity and overhead costs. As the project is leveraged with adequate budget and timeframe, streamlined procurement can be achieved effectively within the project.

Data Management
Data management is the core of total quality management as it allows taking data-driven decisions to manage various distinct requirements including inventory stocks, continuous improvement and quality control actions. The project management plan needs to use data visualization tools such as Gantt chart and risk register to mitigate operating insufficiencies, inconsistent product quality and third-party interventions (Loosemore, 2016). During the cottage project, the PM needs to incorporate adequate information regarding customer satisfaction, supplier performance, availability of corrective actions and process monitoring attributes to demonstrate efficient QMS. Availability of resources, expertise and legal permits are necessary for futuristic progress.

Planning and Documentation
Systematic planning facilitates the PM to evaluate the requirements of the stakeholders and customer satisfaction and sophistication policies. During the planning process, the PM needs to use project charter and costs estimation tools to incorporate assumptions and project dependencies. Selection of land, raw materials, suppliers and project management practices are necessary for an effective project management plan (Fleming, 2019). Moreover, the team needs to include ISO standard documents including communication, evidence, QMS conformity and knowledge sharing policies to record project growths and quality constraints. Necessary documents such as change request, configuration plans, requirement copy, agreements and scope documents are required to incorporate ample opportunity of success in QMS.

Risk Evaluation
Risk evaluation is the foundation of a construction project which highlights key risks of the project. In construction projects, various risks such as budget shortage, untimely deliveries, legal compliances, inappropriate design and unethical corporate governance policies can hamper prime scopes of the cottage house. Adequate allocation of roles, conflicts between stakeholders, lack of expertise and inadequate organizational infrastructure may create comprehensive limitations to secure profit margins (Townsend, 2018). In the given scenario, the PM needs to use a risk register to prioritize constraints based on the likelihood of occurrence and magnitudes and take corrective actions to prevent catastrophic consequences. However, as the project upholds sufficient timeframe and budget allocation, the project management plan can mitigate Operational risks effectively to improve quality.

Development Processes
Icon Construction intends to implement PMBOK guidelines for the underpinned project to transform available resources into luxurious cottage houses. To accomplish key milestones, the PM needs to segregate tasks of various phases including Initiation, planning, execution, monitoring and closure to streamline the project. Use of resources, technologies and equipment are necessary to follow up legitimately to serve the cottage house within a 24 months’ timeline and 295000 AUD.

Stakeholder Management Plan
Stakeholder management in project management plan defines a systematic corporate governance team who are responsible to perform specific tasks based on position, experience and area of expertise. In the context of cottage houses, Icon Construction has engaged an 8 members management team to deliver project deliverables (Sloot et al. 2019). Each stakeholder upholds distinct roles and responsibilities and needs to implement best project management practices to acquire desirable results. To segregate the roles and responsibilities of the distinct members, the PM can use an integrated power-predictability matrix to separate different tasks based on project needs.

Reporting Criteria of the project management plan
The transparent reporting system is the foundation of hazard-free project management as it will facilitate Icon Construction to increase data fluidity and fairness within the cottage project. Icon Construction has engaged a potential team with distinct expertise to minimize occupational hazards due to mismanagement, misinformation, miscommunications and deceptive involvements. Throughout the cottage project, each assisted employees need to follow premeditated reporting criteria and review process to ensure productivity and efficiency. Based on stakeholder engagement, this study on project management plan presents a systematic framework of reporting management system to inform any constraints (Varajão et al. 2017). Various activities such as general documentation, financial controls, communication and information management plans are necessary to incorporate harvestable data in the continuous improvement project management plan. Quality measurement indicators and performance requirements can be evaluated effectively through an efficient reporting system.

In the given scenario, to build the project management plan the members need to provide genetic information of the project with utmost accuracy to diminish miscommunications, and that information can be used to mitigate operational risks.

Conflict Management Plan
Conflicts are inseparable property of construction projects due to unusual involvements and complexity of the project. As all stakeholders uphold distinct interests in project deliverables, various disagreements regarding fundamental aspects such as planning, procurement, raw materials usage and miscommunication may lead to conflicts. However, the PM must develop a concurrent conflict resolution mechanism to diminish disagreements between stakeholders. In the given case study, the PM needs to develop various conflict management strategies such as better communication tools, regular meeting and discussion seasons to build trust and confidence within the team. The team also needs to understand their roles and responsibilities to operate the project effectively (Chudik et al. 2016). Effective implementation of IHRM principles, employee engagement criteria and communication plans is inevitable to handle conflicts. Although some conflicts are beneficial as they can facilitate the manager to eliminate miscommunications and deceptive involvements with holistic approaches. Ethical corporate governance and strategic management practices can allow the PM to resolve conflicts between stakeholders.

The project management plan is an integral property of the modernized commercial construction industry that facilitates organizations to deliver the premeditated scope of the project by measuring organizational performance with dedicated baselines including scope, costs, schedule and quality measurement indicators. An organised project management plan adds value to the process of the project while engaging systematic management systems and compulsory preliminary divisions. Based on the project requirements, the PM must spend substantial time with the project team to achieve baselines, emphasize planning and adaptability. Icon Construction must develop a concurrent project management plan with subsidiary management plans to complete the cottage project within 295000 AUD and 24 months’ timeline. Extensive procurement route, construction management principles, ethical corporate governance policies and Australian government regulations are necessary to consider enhancing productivity and profitability within the cottage project in Mount Vernon region.
