Network Design Assignment on Touchstream Infrastructure

Task: The report should have a detail explanation of the planning and designing of a network. It is recommended that bullet points are included whenever necessary. Use your Problem Based Learning (PBL) tutorial findings.

1. Project Scope and requirements

  • Attach evidence of an industry visit as an appendix A: Industry visit evidence
  • Include points that you have gathered from an industry professional on their existing network

2. Network design and justification

  • Draw a network design that you think will be useful in future for the industry that you have visited. Netwrok should include the following requirements as a miminum
    • 4 routers
    • 6 switches
    • 20 PCs
    • 3 VLAN.
  • Suitable IP addressing scheme in tabular form (assume as many hosts as necessary for each department).
  • Indicate where do you use static routing, dynamic routing protocols (name the protocols, RIP, EIGRP, OSPF etc.), Access Control List (ACL) as per the network preferences. Justify your choices.

3. Network configuration
Configure your network using Packet Tracer. Write report on

  • Packet Tracer Network diagram  - Copy diagram from your simulator
  • Switch configuration
  • Router configuration
  • Host configuration
  • Access point and server configuration guidelines.

4. Timeline and Budget estimation This section should include the followings:

  • Hardware requirements with the specification with costs
  • Human resources and logistics
  • Tentative timeline specifications.

5. Demonstration

  • Individual demonstration of packet tracer in Week 7.
  • Mandotory to demonstrate work-in-progress demonstration in week 5 and 6.

Executive Summary
The conducting of various surveys and researches so far, it has been noticed that major growth has been witnessed upon the routing protocols, network layout, access restrictions using ACL and IP subnetting. Firstly, the network design assignment study mentions the networking requirements required for the organisation which has been gathered from the site visit, and also the design of the network has been described. Next thing explained in this report is IP addressing, ACL commands and the routing protocol. When we move towards the report timeline and budgeting of the project that is being expected has been shown.

Through the enormous surveys or researches that have been done so far, a growth towards the routing protocols, network layout, access through restrictions by using ACL and IP Subnetting has been witnessed in the recent years. In the very first part, network design assignment introduces us with the requirements of the networks that has been gathered during the site visits.

Further the given network description is described. Moving onwards one can see that the IP addresses has been made and explained that is followed by Routing protocol using ACL commands. In addition, the report also shows the budgets, timelines project and finally ends with the conclusion.

Required Summary
The network infrastructure of the Touchstream International Organisation consists of the distinguished segments of network like Touchstream headquarters along with the grounds of football where various recordings are being made. To connect with both portable and fixed devices the network of this organisation should exist in both the forms i.e. wired and wireless.

Wireless connectivity is expected from these network segments for the devices like smartphones being used in workplaces or offices, wireless equipment’s that are being useful for recording or smart tablets that is used for configuring. Headquarters are supposed to have dedicated server to facilitate services like DNS for the workplaces so that other servers are present in the data centres or recordings centres.

Discussion and Diagram representation of Network Design
Logical Design

Figure 1: Logical Design of Touchstream Network

The above diagram shown is of network design from the organisation Touchstream International. If looked upon carefully it can be noticed that this logical network design has the ability to stream live going events for its users over a wide area or within an open network via ISP using the media known as OTT. For the devices to be able to communicate with each other under these network segments implementation of routing configuration is ensured.

This table is an IP table which mentions the various subnets that is being used for network setting of the organisation Touchstream International. By seeing the CIDR masks and subnets one can make sure that CIDR IP addressing scheme is being used for creating or classifying of Subnets foe the distinguished network segments present within the table. The various networking addresses that has been used by this organisation are: -

  • 178.100.0
  • 178.130.0
  • 178.120.0
  • 178.110.0
