Dear Sam,

Good afternoon. I hope you have enjoyed your weekend. I would like to inform you that, in the previous week, the HR team have hired 5 doctors, 2 nurses, 10 midwives and 20 part-time interns. I suggest you to start their on-boarding training from Tuesday. On-board training tends to take place for 4 weeks. In this training session, technical training along with cultural training are provided to employees who have attended the session (Maksymiuk, 2017).The objective of mine behind writing this email is toguide you with few important points that must be considered by you and your team during the process of training.

As you know, Durdans Hospital, always focuses on working with social and ethical responsibilities.It generally refers to actions that are taken by corporate voluntarily (Grigore, 2010). We as a team are constantly working towards enhancing the lives of our stakeholders (Durdans, 2022a). The core objective behind sending this email is to inform you about the components of training that must be integrated during the on-boarding session.You are the head corporate trainerof this hospital;it is your responsibility to inform the newly joined employees about the mission and vision of the organization. It should be known and accepted by the employees of the organization (Orhan, Erdoan and Durmaz, 2014).Along with that the newly joined employees within the hospital should be aware of the current financial position of Durdan. In the following part of the email, I have attached few relevant points that must be discussed in details by to the newly joined employees of Durdans Hospital.

• Recruited healthcare workers i.e., doctors, interns, nurses, midwives and ward boys should focus on treating patients with utmost trustworthiness, honesty and integrity. It means patients should be treated irrespective of their race and ethnicity (Sinnenberg,, 2017). They should focus on informing and removing themselves from any kind of scenario that appears to be conflict in nature.

• The newly recruited workers should also know about social responsibilities undertaken by this hospital. Durdans hospital emphasize on CSR activities. The objective behind initiation of CSR activities is to change the perceptions and attitudes of stakeholders towards environment and climate change (Alawlaqi and Hammadeh, 2016). They should be well-informed about free health camps in rural areas in Srilanka which is conducted on behalf of this hospital. In Durdans hospital the patients are treated individually with utmost care and not only on the basis of their illnesses (Durdans, 2022b). Doctors and nurses who have joined this hospital recently should knowabout the process in which surveillance of various diseases in the rural areas are done on behalf of the organization.

• We as a team are also focused on sustainability. Nurses and midwives who have been hired for caring patients in the hospitals should have enough knowledge about sustainable practices undertaken within the hospital. They should learn the techniques that can be further used to minimize the use of waste materials within the hospitals. I prefer initiation of upcycling. It helps in conversion of waste materials into a product i.e., valuable (Okan, Aydin and Barsbay, 2019). Wardens should make sure to monitor the disposable techniques of midwives, especially in the maternity ward. Newly recruited members of the organization should also focus on undertaking their responsibilities by reducing wastage of water and by using energy efficiently.

• Sam, apart from conducting the training program I suggest you to forward my mail to the IT team of Durdans hospital. They can leverage their skills and automate the Water distribution system (WDS). WDS has the ability to reduce the wastage of water with quality sensors (Anjana, Kumar, Kumar and Amrutur, 2015). Apart from communicating about sustainable practices within the organization, it is also the responsibility of the trainers to focus on communicating the main objectives of Durdans Hospital behind adopting sustainable business practices within the organization.

• The healthcare sectors are affected mostly due to this pandemic. It is the responsible for every internal stakeholder of the firm to focus on performing business activities responsibility in the time of crisis (Tang, Hull and Rothenberg, 2012). Thus, the corporate training department ofDurdans Hospital should inform the newly recruited workforce about the situation of the hospital during the time of each covid waves. The authorities of hospitals were previously accused of black marketing of syringes and medicines during the time of the pandemic. Thus, the corporate trainers should communicate the consequences of such irresponsible and illegal business practices to the newly recruited healthcare workers. You are strictly instructed to handover copies of employee handbook to each and every member who have attended the on-boarding session. Employees who have recently joined the organization are expected to read the employee handbook, understand the organizational policies and give test after reading the handbook. Once, employees are well-informed about the objectives of the organization then they can treat patients within the hospital.

• The newly recruited employees within the organization should be well-informed about the quarterly result of Durdans Hospital. They should understand the importance of their contribution in enhancing the financial performance of the firm. The newly recruited employees along with the finance team should focus on managing the working capitals of the firm. Ward boys who have joined recently should communicate with other ward boys and the warden and focus on managing inventory in the hospital. This is because improper inventory management might have an impact on the working capital of the firmand can add great business value (Priniotakis and Argyropoulos, 2018).

• While monitoring the financial performance of the hospital I have found out that that it can be enhanced by focusing on investment center strategies. This strategy helps in promoting the well-being of the economy (Siegel, Winey and Kornetsky, 2015). I suggest the finance team to focus on investment of tools and other items. Investing in tools and human capital can help this hospital, gain competitive advantage within the healthcare center of Sri Lanka.

• Sam, you are also instructed to organize a meeting with the corporate governance team of the hospital. The objective of corporate governance team is to focus on legal protection (Milosevic, Andrei andVishny, 2015). The newly recruited members along with corporate governance team of the firm should understand that financial performance of the firm cannot be enhanced only by reducing the cost of the company. It is also the responsibility of the firm members to understand and evaluate the need and interests of the stakeholders. Understanding the interest of the stakeholders also increases the level of stakeholder engagement (Esmail, Moore and Rein, 2015). I was also analyzing various reports of patients and my team has also communicated with the family members of patients who are suffering from Kidney and heart diseases. From the survey, my team members have found out patients along with their family members are getting afraid due to the concept of co-morbidity. It increases the risk of mortality (Ryan and Yockey, 2017). Thus, ensuring patient safety with efficient care can enhance the financial performance of the firm in a significant way.

The above image that has been formed is a mind map. The objective of an effective mind map is to link one object with another on the basis of a hierarchy. This is also marked as one of the potential tools that helps in unlocking the mind of human beings in various ways (Liu, Zhao, Ma and Bo, 2014). The above mind map that has been drawn focuses on displaying various relationships that primarily revolves around leadership. The objective of leadership team of an organization is to monitor the process in which the organizational activities are taking place.Leadership is marked as a dynamic and team phenomenon (D’Innocenzo, Mathieu and Kukenberger, 2016). It is the responsibility of the administrative team of a firm to choose their leaders wisely because their style has an impact on the productivity of the employees and the performance of the organization (Nanjundeswaraswamy and Swamy, 2014). In the above image the leadership team of the hospital has been linked with 3 different aspects. The aspects are contemporary leadership, regenerative leadership and traditional leadership. The objective of regenerative leadership is to emphasize on transformational change within the workplace. Leaders who follow this leadership technique emphasizes on the process of energy revitalization and development of new energy (Bernotavicz, McDaniel, Brittain and Dickinson, 2013). Furthermore, from the above mind map it can be found that traditional leadership emphasizes on hierarchy. Though traditional leadership has been marked as outdated by various people but it can be marked as one of the important leadership techniques that emphasizes on resolving conflict effectively (Rukuni, Machingambi, Musingafi and Kaseke 2015).

In addition to this, leadership team of an organization is also responsible for looking after any kind of sustainability issues. There are various social sustainability issues that are often encountered by the management team of hospitals. It has been found that patients and their family members are often exploited with large bill amount by the hospital authorities (Bottero,, 2015). This is one of the major reasons behind the corporate reputation of hospitals often changes. Thus, the objective of the leadership team of the firm is to focus on observing whether people within the society are getting exploited from the admin team of the hospital. In such scenario, servant leadership comes into action. This leadership is practiced on the basis of goal and its main objective is to serve customers (Eva,, 2019). Moreover, mis management of inventory and excessive disposal of wastes by the caring team of the hospitals should also be reduced with effective strategies that can be further formulated by the leadership. In such cases, transactional leadership and regenerative leadership can play a major role. Transactional leadersemphasize on flexibility (Khan, 2017). Thus, these leaders can influence employees to change the process of inventory management. Regenerative leaders are also responsible for strategic adaptation (Sotarauta and Mustikkamäki, 2012). The objective behind this adaptation is to ensure sustainable changes in the core business activities of the firm.

Finally, the leadership team of the firm should also emphasize on the ethical issues of the firm. During the time of covid, various internal members of hospitals have indulged themselves in black marketing. Illegal selling of syringes and medicines were done. Customers were charged high because the demand of these products especially during the second wave was high. This can increase the rate of dissatisfaction among customers, ruin the corporate reputations of the firm and can also have a negative impact on the financial performance of the firm. Thus, it is the responsibility of the leadership team of the firm to monitor the activities of each and every employee within the firm. The organization should make strict organizational policies that must be followed by the employees within the organization.

Reflective Report
In the above part of the report, I have focused on discussing the week 1 and week topics. Each of these topics have been aligned with a hospital. In my opinion, it is the responsibility of the corporate leaders to deal with ethical, sustainability and financial issues within the firm. I have learnt about sustainable leadership in week 2. Strategic decision making is a core part of sustainable leadership (Peterlin, Pearse and Dimovski, 2015). In my opinion, sustainable leaders have the ability to avoid any kind of exploitations within the society. On the contrary, sustainable leaders only focus on achieving short-term goals instead of long-term goals. I think sustainable leaders can only help the company focus on sustainable business practices but they are not skilled enough to help a company or the selected hospital grow significantly.

In this week, I have also learnt about leadership in technology. Effective use of technology and integration of technology for professional development is known as leadership in technology (Raman and Thannimalai, 2019). I think, Durdans is a renowned hospital and is operating in the Sri Lanka for a longer period of time. Moreover, this hospital also faced intense competition in the healthcare industry. In my opinion, it is the responsibility of the leaders of the organization to invest in new and advanced technology in order to ensure smooth and error-free operation within the workplace. This will help the firm to incur profit in their next quarter and it will also help the organization to gain competitive advantage. In week 2, I have got a clear insight about regenerative leadership. Regenerative leaders focus on initiation of transformational change within the workplace. Regenerative leaders have gained appreciation in recent years because they are focused on providing environmental justice with the help of sustainable business practices of firms (Hardman, 2017). I think, in hospitals like Durdans Hospital regenerative leaders are of utmost importance. They focus on adopting strategies that help in ensuring adoption of robust strategies that can develop the future generations. These leaders also help in commitment of maximization of wealth (Caniglia,, 2019). I think regenerative leaders are dynamic and they have the ability to resolve financial, sustainability and ethical issues within the firm. In my opinion, they have the ability to optimize the profit generation of the firm and can also enhance the reputation of the firm.

Finally, I have learnt about balance sheet and how it is analysed by finance professionals within the firm. Balance sheet is a financial statement of a firm that is further analysed to make major decisions within the workplace. The analytical aspects of accounting are taken into consideration in order to make decisions within the firm (Castillo, 2016). In my opinion, revenue or assets of a firm is the most important aspect. On the basis of the firm’s asset and earnings, other leaders can take major decisions. I think balance sheet is analysed within the firm to understand the firm’s ability to overcome challenges and develop strategies. Furthermore, balance sheet is responsible for displaying the annual turnover of the firm (Real, Roldán and Leal, 2014). I think the change in turnover rate of the hospital can help the leaders understand problems within the workplace.
