Information Technology Assignment: How Sensors Are Interconnected With Internet of Things?

Question

Task: To prepare a report on information technology assignment, you are required to think about why we have sensors, what they do, how they are used (think IoT), and then think about the umbrella of the database to hold them so that we can then ask questions about what we have collected.

do sensors cross the proverbial lines of privacy?
The assessment of this is more in how you support your argument. Your answer (independent of your position) should touch on all three of the key things mentioned: sensors, the internet of things, and databases.

Answer

Introduction
The report on information technology assignment will present the idea about sensors. There is an interconnection of sensors with the Internet of Things and different databases and this interconnection are presented in this report. The report will present basic knowledge about sensors and their uses in IoT. Some of the other important details about the sensors are also given in the report that will help in knowing about these sensors more. The important topic that is privacy with sensors is also discussed which can clear out many questions related to this topic.

Sensors
Sensors are devices that collect information from the surrounding. It works in the front end and after collecting the information from the surrounding it passes the same information for the execution of tasks. The internal IoT devices are not capable to collect the outside present surrounding information but the decisions need to favor the surrounding (García et al. 2020). This is the reason behind the use of the sensor in the Internet of Things system.

Work of Sensors
There are different types of sensors that are used by IoT devices. All the sensors work according to the nature of the build. The sensors are working by giving a particular reaction against any kind of change in the surrounding. The work of the sensor is to convert the stimuli like heat, sound, motion, or light into the form of electrical signals. After the conversion of stimuli into an electrical signal, it passes the same signalfrom the interface (Cui 2020). AT that interface the electrical signals are converted to the binary code and these codes are being used by the other IoT-based devices for the calculation of output. The sensors are mostly working on electronic systems. It can be said that the sensors are relying on electronic systems to analyze, capture, and rely upon the important information and data about the environment.

Sensors Used for IoT
The sensors are used for sense and response. The same concept is used by IoT devices as the IoT devices use these sensors for getting the output. Various types of IoT components are present in a device. If the device needs the surrounding data then for that case sensor is present in the device. The sensor collects the data from the surroundings and passes that data into the form of an electrical signal then converts it into binary code (Ullo and Sinha 2020). These codes are used by the othercomponents present in the device for the calculation of other parameters. It can be said that sensors start any kind of process and collect the data and with the help of collected data from the sensor, other IoT components connected to the sensor go ahead with the process and make the results.

Sensors and the Databases
It is possible that the sensor in any particular IoT device is collecting information every second. For that, data needs to be stored in a proper place so that it can be used later for the purpose of calculation. This connects the sensor to the databases and this is known as sensor databases.

In the Internet of Things architecture, the second layer is responsible for the data connection by the sensors. The OT devices that are present in the second layer, collect the information from different sensors and convert them into meaningful information and data streams (Belfkih et al. 2019). This meaning information needs to be saved and stored. The third layer in IoT architecture is responsible for the storage of meaningful information. With the help of machine learning concepts and cloud based analysis of data, the information is properly stored in the database.

Privacy with Sensors
Different types of sensors work according to their design. Many of the sensors are asking for permission to sense any sensitive data but many are not asking for user permission as their designs are not like other sensors. The experimental research findings are indicating that there are many sensors available that exploit to infer the sensitive data and information about individuals in their vicinity (Baig et al. 2019). Many of the pieces of evidence are also found in which it is clearly indicated that the sensors are crossing the proverbial lines of individual privacy.

Conclusion
From the above report, it can be concluded that the sensors are the electronic components that can be used with the IoT devices for getting various types of information. There are various types of sensors and it is totally basedon the design of the sensor that what kind of data is collected by the sensor.
