This individual assignment requires students to demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of Learning Outcomes 1 to 5 covering topics between weeks 1 to12.

Assessment Instructions
You are an independent consultant and are asked to prepare a Professional Development Workshop on one of the topics discussed in class during weeks 1 to 12. Develop an Interactive Workshop based on what you have learned in this subject.

1. Part 1 of the assignment consists of a schedule of the practical activities of the workshop (approximately 1200 words) and is based on topics discussed in class. You can be as creative as you wish in this part as long as you apply practically the chosen topic in the form of a professional workshop. Please take care to consider the following factors when designing your workshop:

• The inclusion of activities that are relevant and interesting.
• The appropriate timing allocated to each of those activities.
• The way in which the topics and activities are integrated.
• The instructions that ensure the activities are facilitated well.
• The potential barriers to the successful implementation of the activities.
• The diversity of activities to suit the varied personalities of the participants.

2. Part 2 consists of final comments (approximately 300 words) summarising what you have hoped to accomplish through the workshop. None of the parts require any referencing.

The outline of the interactive workshop has been designed to reportGoleman’s EQ model, which is related to emotional intelligence
In the workshop, the vitality of Goleman’s EQ Model will be illustrated with respect to emotional intelligence. For proper functioning, the workshop will be segregated into 4 modules. The illustration for the first day schedule will be described in the tabulated format below:

Icebreaker: Participants will be initially introduced. Thereafter, they will be asked to select the card where diverse emotions will be written.Lastly, an introduction will be done on Goleman’s EQ Model. Along with this, a brief discussion will be done about the other activities.

The participant will have a basic idea about the workshop. Additionally, they will also have an introductory knowledge about Goleman’s EQ Model

Grouping and discussion:

Cards that had been provided in the previous task will help to group the participants. Thereafter, they will be asked to assess the extent to which they have an idea about diverse elements related to emotional intelligence.

Lastly with the aid of the GEIT test, they will be asked to state the self-management actions that they had been using.

It will help participants to assess the impact of emotional elements. Further, it will help to assess whether they are able to self-manage themselves.

Heeding to the requirements of others: establishing social awareness:

Every group member will be asked to address the issues that others had been facing with self-management. This will also help to select leaders for group presentation.

The activity will help to build a relationship of empathy among the participants. Moreover, it will also help them to understand the ways others are managing the emotional distress.

Group Presentation:

The members of the groups will be provided the opportunity to discuss among themselves the ways to deal with emotional issues. It will help them to present the ideas properly. Additionally, they will also narrate the learnings from the session.

It will help the participants to explore the diverse ways by which emotional intelligence can be used in situations of emotional distress.

Icebreaker
The participants will be welcomed into the workshop and will be asked to select a card. The cards will be displaying diverse emotions such as happy, fear, sad and so on. After selecting the cards, the participants will be asked to take their seats as per the seating arrangement. The places will be arranged based on the emotion that will be written on the card. However, initially they will sit altogether. Thereafter, all the participants will be asked to introduce themselves. In this course of introduction, emphasis will be laid on introducing the emotional distress that they had been facing. Following this, participants will be introduced with the concepts associated with Goleman’s EQ Model. The entire session will be carried out by for 1 hour. However, the main barrier that will be faced in carrying out the activities is that most of the participants may hesitate in the discussing about their emotions. Hence, initially, a friendly environment would be created. Emotional groups will be discovered based on the cards followed by a discussion on the diverse essentials of emotions In the next part of the workshop, the participants will be asked to look at the cards and categorise themselves together based on the emotion that had been written there. The participants will be spaced in diverse corners of the room so that they can see each other properly. After grouping them, the participants will be asked to undertake an emotional intelligence test referred to as Global Emotional Intelligence Test – GEIT. This test will encompass 40 questions. All the questions will be based on the diverse quadrants of “Goleman’s Emotional Intelligence Competency Model (2002)”. After the test participants will be scored for identifying their capability level within the EI quadrants.

After this test, the participants will be asked to reflect on the self-management steps that had been using. In addition to this, they will also be asked to reflect upon the strengths and weaknesses associated with that action. This will be provided with the opportunity to describe their experiences associated with self-management. This illustration will describe the diverse ways that are followed by the participants for handling their emotional outburst. Thereafter, the discussion will be done on the ability of the participants to share their emotions with others. In this regard, the participants will be asked to narrate whether they are comfortable in conveying their emotions or not. For instance, the participants will be questioned if they are able to convey their anger to the right person or not. Followed by this, they will also be asked to address their ability adapt to such a situation when other convey their feelings to them. All the above-discussion will help the participants to understand the points where they struggle in handling their emotions. Later, an overall discussion will be made on the factors that lead to the arousal of those emotions. In addition to this, the participants will also be guided on the ways that the ways they should take to overcome the situations of emotional breakdowns. Lastly, again every participant will be provided 3 minutes to wind up their speech. This process would be continued until all the participants get the chance to speak on all the emotions.

Heeding to the requirements of others: Establishing social awareness
In this session, the participants will be reshuffled and grouped as per their issues. In this part of the activity, the third element related to Goleman’s EQ Model will be taken into consideration. In this context, the participants will be asked to state their weaknesses. In this course, other participants will be asked to note down the issue. After this, group members will be asked to have a discussion among themselves such that they are able to find common solutions. These solutions will be narrated. This will help the participants to understand the vitality associated with service orientation along with organisational awareness.

This activity will then use the fourth element which is relationship management. In this phase, the participants will assess the performances of each other. This will help to comprehend the leadership qualities that they possess. In this context, the group that wouldprovide the solution associated with the ways to deal with conflicts and other issues would be further assessed for finding out the inspirational leader.

Group presentation
Lastly, all the members will be provided an opportunity to go for group discussion. In this discussion they will be asked to pen down the vital points that they had learnt from the workshop. Along with this, they will also be asked to discuss about the benefits that Goleman’s EQ Model could be able to provide them both personally as well as professionally. After the discussion, one of the members will be asked to narrate the findings of the discussion.Likewise, all the groups will be provided with the opportunity. This will help to understand whether the workshop was able to achieve its objective or not. Thereafter, the session would be concluded.

The workshop on emotional intelligence will be taken into consideration Goleman’s EQ Model. The workshop will have diverse purposes with respect to emotional intelligence. This is vital as it is emotions that connect one individual with other. Emotions can be of diverse types such as happiness, anger, sadness and many more. People display these emotions not only at the personal level but also at the professional level. Hence it is crucial that they should have the ability to manage these emotions. Inefficiency displayed by individuals with respect to self-management will lead them to face several embarrassing situations. It may also ruin their life. Hence, by participating in the workshop, the participants will be able to learn about the diverse emotions that had been troubling them. In addition to this, the workshop will also be able to provide an opportunity to the participants to reflect on the self-management practices that are followed by them. Further, they will also narrate their strengths and weaknesses. This will help them to know themselves.

Moreover, as all the participants will be involved in this process, it would be possible for them to understand the diverse steps that could be taken for overcoming the emotional bursts. Further, it will also help them to screen the ways by which they would be able to overcome their weaknesses. This is vital from the perspective of professional world; as, an emotional outrage might hamper their promotions and other vital situations. In this entire process GEIT test will be the most important tool. Moreover, with the passage of time in the workshop, the participants will also learn the significance of helping each other, team works and needs to maintain relationships. Further, they will be able to solve their queries associated with diverse emotional situations. The workshop will pave the path by which the participants would be taught to reduce conflicts and establish a healthy relationship.
