ii) Do an investigation of the digital transformation, information management and information governance in a real organisation (any business in any industry). You have to identify and approach a business of your choice and do a 15-20 minute interview with a manager. During the interview you have to gather information about their digital transformation journey and how they manage and govern data, information and knowledge to achieve their business goals. You also have to identify the challenges they encounter to move into the digital economy and make recommendations to overcome these challenges.
iii) Each group will also create a short slideshow capturing the learning and recommendations from the assignment (including the literature review, conceptual framework, interviews). The groups will do a 15-minute presentation of their work in class (all group members will participate, and the presentation will be graded as part of the assignment).

As per the interview, it has been known the David is one of the bosses in Time Supermarket. Main responsibility of David is to produce mainly dry goods for the company. There are several student employees in the company. The working hours are arranged according to the requirements of the employees. Davis has also the responsibility to manage the warehouse of the company. As the information, David, use several sources from numerous suppliers. Time Supermarket has various suppliers who come from several different organizations. From these suppliers, David can collect different information regularly. Information that has been collected from numerous suppliers can be used to choose the better one. To collect information from the staff of the company, the working hours of the company have been fixed and free times of the staff can be understood. To gather information related to sales front desk analysis has been done to know about the requirement of the consumers and their demand. With the knowledge of sales information, strategic plans for purchasing can be set. Several different have been collected from the information related to the warehouse of the company. Warehouse information provides delivery time, product information, cost information and information regarding stocks of the company.
Software that has been utilized by the company to deal with different data and information has explained by David. Time Supermarket use Ms Excel for managing information of the employees. In excel, the working hours of the employees and their salaries have been recorded. The company manages entire information of the warehouse by developed software, which is used for the warehouse.
For managing several other data of the company such as data of the front desk uses, excel. With the help of excel, the arranging working hours of the employees of the front desk became easier. The job role of the front desk employees is generally to check and receive different orders from the restaurants. Restaurants send orders to the employees of the front desk and give notification to other staff for delivering them. Information and different data are handled and managed by the staff of the front desk. The company for keeping records related to shipping information and ordering information is using a notebook. As a notebook can be lost, they are thinking to bring some changes to data management. The company can understand that the traditional data-keeping method is problematic for these days.
The company has encountered some major risks as many of the employees have lost their notebooks. David has realized the need of technological governance for managing these kinds of risks. For avoiding unnecessary problems, the company has installed a monitoring system on the premises of the front desk. For ensuring security regarding different information the company has updated checkout systems.
The founder of the company has realized that digital transformation is one of the inevitable innovations of this era. The information technology of this generation is becoming a significant factor for enterprise management. As per the interview, David also wants to implement digital transformation within his organizational structure. As the implementation of digital transformation, the company has already updated its checkout system.
