Counselling Assignment: A Reflective Journal On Social & Psycho-Educational Learning Theories

Question

Task: In this counselling assignment, you are required to prepare a reflective journal addressing the following points:

a) Summarize and interpret the impact of Social and Psycho-Educational theories for counselling work
b) Identify and analyze the impact of modelling influences in a client’s environment to facilitate client change
c) Analyze the effects of functional and dysfunctional environments on individual outcomes
Briefly describe key points from two of the models (Behavioural Therapy; REBT; CBT; Social Cognitive Theory; SFBT) you have learnt about in your Reflective Journal. For each model, provide an example from your own life and describe how the model would be utilized to bring about change. Use a different example for each model.

EXAPLE could be include difficulty sleeping; challenges with study routines; incorporating exercise or dietary changes into your life; or any other desired changes. Rationalize your choice of model for this problem. For each issue, identify two (2) external factors that may affect, and even be part of, the problem (e.g. social, cultural or environmental) Ensure equal space is given to each one (i.e. approximately 500 words per theory, 1000 in total). Provide definitions of terms and relevant references to support your work. A minimum of three (3) references is required. Direct quotes and references do not count towards the word count. This paper is to be written in the first and third person.

Answer

Introduction
In this reflective journal on counselling assignment, I will describe the impact of social and psycho-educational theory, which may impact the modeling according to the environmental changes. Social learning theory is based on social behavior and seeing others behavior. Psycho-educational learning is applied to the individual's, undergoing several health and mental problems.

Social and psycho-educational theories for counseling work on modeling
Behavioral Therapy

According to social learning theory, behavioral therapy is a pattern that runs with a range of techniques to change much adaptive behavior. Behavioral therapy is rooted in the different internal and external areas of social action Powell, Wegmann& Shin (2019). There are different types of behaviorpresent in the principles, accustomed with social, educational therapy.Behavioral therapy changes the problem and eliminates the issue to minimize the issues of the client's change Brown (2018). Behavioral treatment also implies different types of techniques, and according to the environment, it functions and dysfunctions accordingly. Social, educational learning theories for behavioral therapy is worked with observation, to imitate people, modeling and the behaviors which adapted by seeing other's nature. According to Blustein et al. (2019), in behavioraltherapies, different factors are present, and according to the variety of factors, the conditions and severity should be performed accordingly. Here,I can discuss two types of behavior as cognitive-behavioral theory and rational emotive behavioral therapy (REBT). Both of the treatments are inter-connected with each other, and they both work on an individual according to the environmental functions. There are different types of psychological ranges from where the behavioraltherapy works accordingly, such as depression.

Bipolar disorder, panic disorder, different types of phobias and many more.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

The factors rely on behavior techniques and add elements towards the cognitive factor focus on the disturbing thoughts behind the behaviors. The therapy assesses play, prevent different types of challenges related to psychology which help an individual to learn and think in another way (Apolinário-Hagen et al., 2018). There are numerous reasons behind the therapy, and it benefits from depression, eating orders, anxiety disorder and many more. According to the environment, cognitive behavior performs accordingly, and the outcomes are different, which depends on the therapy.

Rational emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT)
The therapy focuses on negative feelings or thoughts that may replace with rational and realistic ones. The treatment helps to understand those irrational beliefs and patterns which led to negativity. As opined by Scheel et al. (2018),rational emotive behavior works under the ABC model: A for an event that happens for the environment, B for beliefs that occurred for the event and C for consequences, the result response for the event as the therapy is based on environmental factors so the as per the counseling therapy it works against different effects such as treatment programs.

As an example, for Cognitive Behavioral Theory (CBT), I had anxiety problems for several years, and it was going worse for which multiple issues were going against at my workplace (Powell, Wegmann& Shin, 2019). Even the co-workers of mine were unhappy with my performance. They started to dislike me; I was having problems with my job, and though my management team was getting unsatisfied with my work, and as a result, I lost my job. As an example, in rational emotive Behavior therapy (REBT), in my case, I have been falsely accused by my mother for taking money from her space. The accidental incident happened without any purpose, but it happened. It happened according to the environmental factor, and as a result, there were misconceptions create between my mother and me. We both get upset for the irrational beliefs.

Social Cognitive Theory
Social Cognitive Theory influences an individual experience which actions on the others and may depend on the environment related to the others health behaviors. Social Cognitive Theory or SCT provides different types of opportunities that support different expectations and also the observational learning process, which may lead to behavioral change. As per Farber, Suzuki & Lynch (2018),the primary key points of this theory are divided into five categories: psychological behavior, observational learning's, environmental behavior, moral ethics, and self-created regulations. This theory is based on past experiences, which influences expectations and shape a specific behavior. SFBT or Solutions focused brief therapy is one of the critical approaches of Social Cognitive Theory (SCT). SFBT works on an individual with the involvement of their families.

Solutions focused brief therapy (SBFT)
The therapy is a primary step to help the people trying to find solutions regarding their issues. This therapy has expanded its form to specified matters related to the life-oriented problems with different kinds of environments such as schools, workplaces, different cultural backgrounds, other age groups people and benefit them according to the results. The circumstances and the results are based on some situations, symptoms and issues which are not typical. As stated by French et al. (2020),the ability also supports determining the skills and the resources which need to vision everything successfully and adequately. SFBT helps individuals create a future path according to their desire and work with the series to achieve the goals. The result of the therapy can be enhanced with different outcomes which evaluate the solutions. The treatment also focused on assisting people in the process to understand their needs and continue to strive to encourage and acknowledge the success of the celebrations. This SFBT session works under a collaboration of the therapist and the client. The two can set the aim and find the results or the solutions to solve the issues against the problems.

As an example, in my story, I used to give tuitions to kids to understand their psychology according to their cognitive behavior. I found that one of my children was going through an aggressive condition and display different kinds of verbal aggression, which led to the story of the Bobo doll experiment model, which is an aggression mode of this theory. I observed that the charge had been formed while watching an over-aggressive cartoon character, and a form of frustration level has been created, which led to the experimental category in both of the categorical groups of boys and girls (Apolinário-Hagen et al., 2018). So I can say that this therapy can influence both the agents and the environments as well. In this case, she has been diagnosed with a therapist or a counselor who helps overcome the process, and in this process, some questions have been asked to her to understand her inner strength. In this process, this conversation helped a lot to shift her perspective to positive ground, remaining her ability and strength same as before.

Conclusion
According to the overall subject, this has been concluded that the socio-psycho environmental learning process follows the behavior of the people. According to the problems of an individual, the therapies may occur troublesome behaviors. As per conclusion, the treatments and the models are influenced according to the experience of leanings and acquiring skills, values of the world.
